ALPHAWORLD SERVER BOGGED

WORLDS PEOPLE "WORKING ON IT"

Sunday, December 10 As record numbers of people pour into AlphaWorld, the server has been getting bogged down considerably. It has been difficult to even get into AlphaWorld recently, and building has been almost out of the question.

Timeouts have been rampant, with messages such as "It seems your internet connection has failed."

Be aware that even though you may get this message and objects you have created disappear, they may reappear later.

A major problem for many citizens has been that they cannot see their own (or others') property due to problems getting the local from the server. Lots of folks thought that their property had been deleted.

If you're not getting cache, try leaving and coming back in again, and/or doing the "cache dance:"

• Move around a lot holding down CTRL and even make short spurts using ALT (but not CTRL and ALT.)
• Switch a lot from first to third person and back using HOME and END (try hitting END four times when you first come in, then switch to that view every time you "flip.")
• Spin like a dervish!
• Once you have gotten cache in an area, try moving around its edges so that you only need to grab little bits of cache instead of large chunks...the large chunks take longer and may time out.
• Finally, if you're having trouble getting into AlphaWorld in the first place, try holding down the ALT key as soon as you start hearing the music (right before your citizen ID is confirmed or rejected) and leaving it down until you're in. Thie avoids a possible timeout.

As of this writing, the people at Worlds (who of course are our hosts in AlphaWorld) are working hard at rectifying the situation, but no word is available as far as when it will be fixed.
