Some Sites of Interest

The addition of signs and the deregulation of wrap and teleport seem to have kicked off a real boom in building. This issue we'll just cover a few new sites, including Bass Haven and the Twiglet Zone. I didn't have time to do justice to any of them, but hopefully your interest will be piqued enough to go take a look yourself.

If you want to submit your site for inclusion, send me mail at webmaster@synergycorp.com. Be sure to tell me exactly what you're emailing about. If you like, include screen shots. Size of the screen shots should be approximately 480x360, and they should be in JPEG format captured using hicolor (16-bit, millions of colors) screen resolution. Be sure to give exact coordinates and a general description of the site. Please realize that it is hard to pick which sites to cover...the process is somewhat random.

As usual, just click on a smaller in-line picture to see a larger one.

The Twiglet Zone

The Twiglet Zone team welcomes you.

[Reading in my best Rod Serling voice:] Imagine, if you will, a virtual world where people make elaborate constructions using only simple building blocks.

Here an entire family and their friends have fallen prey to an obsession they call...[theme music cuts in] the TWIGLET ZONE.

This site features very impressive attention to detail and an extensive selection of themes. A school, a radio station, welcome center, two stadiums, a stable, bridges, parks, a cemetery, a drive-in, a giftshop, it goes on and on. You can't imagine this site without going there. I can't take pictures of animations, folks. Cars moving along the road and teams playing on the football field look much better in person! Teleport to 552n 244w, and bring a lunch!

TZ Stadium.

The Cemetery (there's also
a mausoleum, natch.)

A bowling alley.

Bass Haven

What drew me to Bass Haven originally was a really cool water slide. When I went back, it was gone! Evidently Fishinhook decided it wasn't good enough for him, and is replacing it with the monster water slide shown below.

A new waterslide is
under construction

Bass Haven's star construction crew includes Fishinhook, Fussy, dNapalm and Trakman. Like the Twiglet Zone, Bass Haven has just about all the town buildings you could imagine and then some...even a Red Light District in this case! Small children must be accompanied by an adult, of course. Head out to 3020N 74E to see Bass Haven, there are teleporters from there all over the area.

This is a shot of Trakman's 3d (all glass!) maze. It'll keep you busy for quite a while! For the attention-span-impaired, there is a smaller 2d maze.

Another of Trakman's rides is pretty drastic roller coaster. Hold on to your hat on this one, folks!

DAAP

The University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning has their own world now, which is quite different from any other worlds so far. 3D sculptures are on display for all to admire here. Many thanks to Derrick Woodham and DAAP for the outstanding sculpture on loan to Worlds, which is being exhibited near Ground Zero of AlphaWorld.

To visit DAAP, teleport to alphaworld.worlds.net:7022 0n 0w. Don't miss Meander, a lower-res version of Ben Britton's model of the French Lascaux caves, with photos by Lisa Britton.

Tingley Village

While poking around this afternoon I discovered Tingley Village. I didn't have time to look as much as I wanted or take a bunch of photos, but it looks interesting! It's at 895N 50E, take a look!
