CALL FOR STANDUPS
Hello, I'm building an outdoor comedy emporium at 59n, 216e in the Loch Ness area. I'm putting in some web humor links, have built a stage and environs; and hope to offer open-mike comedy for a hour or so on a Friday or Saturday night. I'd emcee. To make it work I'll need some volunteers for the first show or two. Hopefully it would generate its own wannabee comics from the audience and word of mouth after a couple of shows. Two or three minutes of any sort of material, original or borrowed, will be all that is required.
No stage fright, just drag your little avatar down there and type out a few gags-- you could even disappear if you had to, call it magic. Kind of a mixture of Karaoke and ventriloquism. No off-color stuff of course, the audience being of indeterminate age and gender. Lots of potential for topical humor and fun: from Prophetess, "Take my avatar . . . please!," and from Toast, "How many avatars does it take to screw in a lightbulb." So if you have the urge, the whim, and the guts--or if you can drink a couple of glasses of wine and still type in your jokes--please e-mail me. These avatars look like they could use a laugh. Welcome to the Alphaworld Military Complex
The Alphaworld Military Complex is a collection on buildings for the Military minded. Our current buildings are:
Military Library: This building contains links to Military related Web sites. It currently has 64 web sites listed; the facility will eventually hold 256 links.
Military Convention Hall: This building is a discussion area for people to get together and talk about anything Military related ( Historic, News, Gaming, Pictures or whatever). Large area for group conferencing.
Military Museum: This set of buildings will hold links to Military related Pictures for your Viewing. The Facility is currently under construction, but will be finished soon. Pictures will be added to building as it is built to make it usable quickly. Two levels!
Military Memorial: All grass areas will be used for memorials. Memorial areas are for people to have a marker for lost service members. I can be e-mailed at robinsoc@pa.net for detailed information. Their are five memorial markers at this time. The markers used are White Knight Chess pieces. Please check them out as an example. This service is available to anyone who has ever served in any military force.

Now that the first inhabited virtual worlds are here, we can actually begin to live the experience only available to us previously in fictional worlds like Neal Stephenson's Metaverse in his prescient novel Snowcrash. In AlphaWorld we can build and interact but what about our shared culture, our rules governing our conduct (good and bad), our methods of communication?
Our Mission
We are a dedicated group of online citizens including anthropologists, computer scientists, writers, musicians, artists, world builders, engineers, social scientists, corporate managers, and just normal netizens dedicated to the theme of human culture and contact in digital space. We are collectively setting into motion a phenomenon that will affect millions of people. If the digital worlds we create are appealing, effective and culturally rich, they may greatly benefit humankind.
